Through scholarships, the Patriot Foundation supports the educational goals of qualifying disabled Veterans and the family members of fallen or disabled Veterans.
This help comes in the form of post-secondary scholarships for the family members of these soldiers.
We believe that education is the most important tool for creating prosperity and success in the lives of America’s youth. By supporting the families of service members impacted by post 9/11 conflicts, it not only gives them the life-changing opportunity to go to college, it also honors the sacrifices our soldiers have made for our freedom.
Our vision is to provide scholarship funding for families of killed, wounded, injured, or seriously ill soldiers from Fort Bragg, NC and Fort Campbell, KY. In the past, we have also arranged a variety of other support from individual donors for specific purposes. Additional support efforts can be found under the Who We Serve tab (Other Support).
Patriot Foundation was founded in 2003 by Spike Smith and his wife, Debbie. Spike decided to host a charity golf tournament in North Carolina to raise money for the troops. 9/11 was a recent memory, and our country was in the early years of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the War in Afghanistan.
Initially, a tournament was held to benefit soldiers in the Fort Bragg area. Living near Fort Bragg meant that the Smiths were able to see the need these families faced first hand. As time went on, the charity grew. The idea to raise money and partner with other organizations who are close to the populations we serve was the first step in creating the Patriot Foundation as it is today.
Our support has expanded beyond Fort Bragg to include Fort Campbell, KY, and military families across North Carolina. This growth has been driven by the generosity of corporate sponsors and individual donors who share our commitment to serving the families of wounded, injured, ill, and fallen service members. Their passion and understanding of our mission make this vital work possible.
When you donate to Patriot Foundation you’re not only showing your support for our service members and their families, you’re helping them reclaim opportunities lost to consequences from the battlefields and training grounds.
Ready to show members of our armed forces they’re not forgotten, while making a difference in a life touched by loss?
