WHO WE SERVE

We serve our military community through educational scholarships. These families know the meaning of service and unfortunately know the pain of sacrifice. We are inspired with each one.

WHY WE GIVE

Our service men and women face untold hardships and experience complications from training, deployments, and war. They struggle with disabilities making it difficult to fund schooling or training for their sons and daughters. The Patriot Foundation does not forget them.

WAYS TO GIVE

“The Gift of an Education is Truly One of the Greatest Gifts of All!” Donate securely online: a one-time gift or monthly; designate Patriot Foundation through a legacy gift or by personal/corporate check.

SERVICE

The goal of Patriot Foundation is to provide support for the families of military service men and women killed, wounded, injured, or who become seriously ill while serving our nation.

SACRIFICE

The families of America’s service members don’t ask to serve, but they end up making sacrifices for our country just like their parents and partners.

HONOR

There is no stronger foundation for the future than a good education, and no better way to honor our military than to make sure their families are well taken care of.

YOU can be the difference

Patriot Foundation is a nonprofit foundation with no political affiliations. We provide post-secondary educational scholarships to the children and spouses of service men and women who have been killed, wounded, injured or who became seriously ill
while serving our nation.

Welcome our new President

Heather Dodgins

Heather Dodgins became the President of the Patriot Foundation in August 2024, bringing extensive experience in public relations and fundraising. Prior to joining the foundation, she led her own consulting business, providing strategic fundraising services to both political campaigns and nonprofit organizations. Heather’s passion for nonprofit work was sparked during her time as Director of the Charlotte Heart Ball at the American Heart Association, where she helped achieve record-breaking success. Her dedication to veterans and their families grew while working with veterans running for office, whose stories deeply inspired her path to the Patriot Foundation. A proud graduate of the University of South Carolina and an alum of The Fund for American Studies, Heather, her husband Bryan, their son, and three dogs live in North Raleigh.

SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

“After stumbling off the ruck march of military life, this scholarship allows us to start our civilian life on a strong foundation. The Patriot Foundation Scholarship ensures the spouse is not forgotten.

This scholarship also says that my voice belongs in academic conversations, that I bring a critical perspective formed by my experiences as a military spouse to discussions of history. It means that I am not less worthy of a place at the collegiate table because I had priorities related to military life take precedence over tuition funds.

This scholarship allows me to expand my community and remain connected to an even broader family of military support.

Powerfully, it affirms I have a community behind me, diverse in origin but united in our dedication to fight for each other. Most importantly, the Patriot Foundation Scholarship shows that when you need your community, they are there for you.” – Andrea

Gold Star Wife and Mother, Wesley Bauguess talks about the impact of the Patriot Foundation and their commitment to education.

THERE IS A PRICE FOR OUR FREEDOM.

Since 2001, untold numbers of service men and women have lost their lives or been severely injured while defending our Nation. As a result, countless families have been touched by tragedy, whether through the loss of a loved one or the challenges of coping with wounds, injuries, or illnesses.

At our organization, we are passionate about supporting the educational success of America’s youth. That’s why we’re dedicated to supporting the families of service members impacted by post-9/11 conflicts. By providing them with life-changing scholarships in pursuit of their post-secondary education we honor the sacrifices of our service members.

Join us in our mission to empower the next generation.
